  1. thank you so much for this. my hands and feet are normally so cold constantly, but i love winter camping and havw basically just suffered

  2. Put those cold feet right into the sleeves of that down jacket, or oversize wool socks just for sleeping

  3. Wouldn’t it be easier just to pack a few hand and foot warmer packets there small and don’t weigh much

  4. If Im hot tenting, Ill heat a bunch of water. Two hot nalgenes inside both of my insulated boots, which are hung off the ground. The others lept oven adjacent. I only out a bottle in my bag if I REALLY need to (for fear of them managing to spill water inside my bag). I also keep a cup of hot chamomile against the stove, so I always have a hot drink handy.

If Im not hot tenting, then Ill use a alcohol/wood stove combo. That way I only need yo use a little acohol to get a small wood fire going for heating much more water and drying out gear.

  5. The hot water bottle between the upper thighs is something I’ve done for ever, heat you up real quick.

  6. Hot Water bottles have existed for decades and are made for this purpose much safer than a plastic drink bottle…

  7. I just take off the base layer I’ve been wearing all day and wear my puffy booties, pants, and jacket and a cloth face mask and beanie then just let my sleeping system do the rest. That extra weight isn’t a big deal for me to have quality sleep.

  8. My favorite tip is: put the outfit you will wear in the morning inside your sleeping bag. It sucks to have to change into freezing cold clothes in the morning lol

  9. …boiling water in a plastic drink bottle??? I don’t like your chances of making 50 without getting cancer.

  10. That’s how feet work. When they’re cold your body shuts down circulation to your peripheries to protect your torso and brain. Heat up your core and circulation will return.

  11. Clean your boots carefully then place them at the bottom of your sleeping bag for overnight, your feet will thank you in the morning.😜

  12. Hey! You stole my idea! LOL
I do this often, only I put 2 in the foot of the sleeping bag. I do this for guests, as my bag is more than enough.*

Their feet make love to these two bottles in the wool socks all night long!

*I use the NEVER SUMMER 0° sleeping bag from Marmot. It is puffy, extrememly warm, and the most comfortable bag I have ever used!

    P. S. Great idea on the water bottle!
    I guess it’s true …
    "great minds think alike!"

  13. Not a good idea for deep in the back country. What if your water bottle leaks now you’re soaking wet…. This is fine if you’re in the front country and close to a vehicle or trailhead but not deep in the back country when you’re miles from anything.
