  1. Why not kakwa 40 or OV Shadowlight for the pack?

Also, my weight is 185 pounds which is considered overweight for my height. My plan to go ultralight is to lose about 20 pounds. I’m willing to bet your set up can’t be cheaper and lighter than mine lol

  2. Not even to be a smartass in the comments, i could get your level of gear & alot more under $300. A single cup costing you $30 is ridiculous.

  3. I like this list, but warning ⚠️ klymit pads are summer pads, even their insulated version does not have a good ASTM R value

  4. Or… you can work on your Gains and then be one of those guys who carries a bag that’s way too heavy and it not affect you. Be one of those guys that’ll ask somebody to take their bag just for them to not be ready for how heavy It is and then immediately drop it on the ground.

  5. Thise kylmt mats can be had for $40 at sierra trading post. Been that price for 4, years. They are remarkably bad. I dont know what it is but they puncture EVERY time i use ine. Brought 5 by now. No more 🙁

  6. All of that seemed very reasonable… except the backpack. That’s legitimately insane and you could definitely pick up one only the slightest bit heavier for less than half of it and still remain ridiculously light

  7. Klymit V sleeping pads are a huge fail even for a budget sleeping pad. They have that huge gap in between the baffles with zero insulation, and I’ve heard the easily get leaks from friends who’ve owned them.

  8. I am interested in learning about ultra lite so I can carry my ham radio with my laptop and antenna to run my packet radio system.

  9. This being ‘cheap’ is why i am not gonna ever strive to be UL 😂
no hate to you, its just still expensive for a lot of people.
Finding stuff used for good deals is a great way to get decent gear, if youre patient. I have a vintage 0°f down bag i found for like $60 that is also extremely light and compact.

  10. for just like maybe around $50-$60 more you can buy the durston kakwa or ULA CDT for less weight

  11. Garbage bag poncho….blah blah ounces.
Amazon foldable day bag. 160 grams. 15$
DQ spoon zeeerrooo dollas *long spoon*
Boundless voyage 450 ml titanium cup. 20 dollas.
Wise owl double hammock. 650 grams. 25 dollas
    Sol emergency blanket. 5 dollas
Katadyn befree water filter in 1l bottle. 40 dollas
    Platypus 2l waterbag. 20 dollas. 35 grams.
    Misc misc misc misc misc

Sleep in the warm summer days AND NIGHTS! With a sub 5 pound loadout. Has to be warm day and night. Thats the catch. Don’t push bag too far with food and water. Should be fine for 2 to 3 nights. Fanny bag with food could stretch it another day or two. Hiking meals and protein bars. Loadup bars in fanny to balance weight.

If your poor you too can go hiking! Probably under 200 bucks all in with food. Don’t push the 5lb baseweight. The bag isn’t made for that or the straps will dig into you bad or the bag might rip. Its not for heavy hauling. Even aiming for 2.5 to 3 lb baseweight with 1l of water reserve and food bringing it to 7.5 total bag weight is safer.

The hammock is the chair. The blanket is to warm you a bit but is waterproof too. This works because I just did it. Hiked 60km. Summertime.

  12. I bought a Frogg Toggs. Sent it back immediately. Construction was crap. Sealed seams missed the stitching holes in several places and there were spots where you could see the coating was missing.

  13. Why would you spend that much on a backpack on a budget, shouldn’t the sleeping bag be more important?

  14. Klymit is the absolute worst sleeping pad ever. You’re better off just using a close cell foam pad. You will feel the ground all night long. It’s a complete piece of 💩💩💩.

  15. It’s people like you who ruin these things by commercialising them. You can do this for absolutely nothing today if you wanted.

  16. Your channel is one of my faves. Concur with all in this video except for the Klymit sleep pad. Total garbage. Pillow is awful too. Noisy and uncomfortable!
