In Sweden is klymit one of the expansiv pads
I keep getting FaceBook adds for the KilosGear AeroCloud sleeping pad. Does anyone have any experience with this?
back sleepers v. side sleepers v. stomach sleepers make comfort ratings so hard to figure out. My pad is super warm and gets good reviews from back sleepers… but it is terrible for side sleepers imo, also noisy (which I’m not that bothered about as I camp solo). I stayed warm in quite cold weather, but only managed 4 hours of sleep due to how often I woke up with my arm asleep). I think my only real option is to get a summer sleeping pad for side sleepers and stack it in cold weather.
Glad you mentioned the Big Agnes warmth issue.
R value no where near rated imo.
I knew on the first night something was off
would be smarter to invest more money into the sleeping pad or into the sleeping bag?
weigh in gramm/ kg and size in cm width is would nice to know in the comparison! EUR in the caption would be informative for EU folks. Great videos very informative!
No exped?
Online orders only ripoff suprize suprize suprize overpriced Chinese crap 😅👎👎
I am very curious why there is no lighttour series? Is it because they did not sponsor you? ?
We have 2 Berghaus Air 10 Mattresses, which are super comfortable and part self inflating, but we have had problems with deflation. Does anyone have any great tips or tricks of how to stop them deflating, we think it might be the valves. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks 🙏 Would love to stop our butts hitting the floor in the middle of the night 😂
Elephant in the room is the brand’s warranty policy. An inflatable product used outdoors will eventually spring a leak. I believe that the more expensive pads high price point is to pad, (get it? 😉) their profit margin for warranty repairs. This would be my most important consideration for investing in a more expensive pad.
Pretty sad not to mention Exped
The company that brought insulated air mattress’s to the market in the first place; all insulated air mats not made by Exped are violatingtheir patent.
Do your home work!
Dan becker ah vid
Family man, leave now.
Just a thought…everyone says that the insulation on the bottom of your sleeping bag is useless as it’s compressed when in the bag. But with a mat like the insulated klymit V, the voids between baffles allows your sleeping bag to loft under you. Does this make it warmer than the r value indicates?
Who the hell is spending $200 on a sleeping mat
I just need something for the hotel floor when me and my buds pack a room in the casino for guys weekend
Stay away from KLYMIT. They look cool, but over time air leaks where those glued/laminated areas are. Making it impossible to seal off any leaks as the mattress over time (1 year) looses air. The air valve is an absolute pain to actually work with, especially the closing lid. They have updated the valve design, however, their "lifetime" warranty is them sending replacement from USA yet asking you to pay 50 dollars for shipment?
If they sell product outside US, they should have stock/rep/distributer who should address overseas customers. Customer service (via email) is just careless.
I purchased the – Klymit Static V Ultralite SL Sleeping Pad – very expensive and totally not worth it.
well you are getting the klymit because it’s made with 75d material which makes it more puncture resistant, so obviously it will be heavier. Also due to it’s design it’s r value ends up being higher also that’s the ultralite version so idk what you are even looking at
I slept on a blue trangoworld for 2 years. I swear best bed i ever had, it even replaced my normal bed. Is there any pad on these that will also daily use for this long? materially. many camping stuff are not designed for daily use more like short trips but they cost a fortune
Exped.
As a control group, especially for diy, you should also do a heat reflection test of reflectix?
Thermarest prolite plus those red pads are hard to beat
warm fast inflate super comfy.
only downside hard to pack down .
I have had two thermarest and they have both been complete shit. I had to RMA my first one and the second is just as bad. They start deflating in the middle of the night after less than 10 uses. So many sleepless nights on the PCT.
Does anyone have expirience with the Klymit Insulated V in combination with a Quilt? I fear the coldsports could be problematic there, even if the R-Value is enough.
Reason is that i’m seeking for a Duo mat for trekking with kids. Currently I’m using a Nemo Tensor but this is not available as a duo version. The Klymit Insulated V Duo is currently available for only 175€ which is quite attactive.
where’s EXPED in this mix?
Man I miss Moosejaw…
the roamer is something else

Help me out here. If I’m using a military bivy sleeping bag system that’s rated to -40 F° all on it’s own do I really reed to concern myself with r values? I just need something comfortable 😩
I have a Hikenture ultralight sleeping pad that ran me about $20. Ironically it’s the heaviest pad I own, but not only is it $100 cheaper than all the pads listed here, but it’s also quite comfortable, it’s a wider pad, has its own pump bag, is firm but comfortable, durable, and just overall a pretty good pad. I can’t say if it’s as good as these higher end expensive pads, but if you camp on a tight budget like me, then you really can’t go wrong with it. As someone who’s slept on just the ground with a sleeping bag…it’s leagues and miles better
Big Agnes Boundary Insulated checks more boxes for less money
$200+ dollars for a sleeping pad is beyond silly. No way I am spending that much to get me off the ground.
In fact, outdoor gear is all outrageously expensive. You guys keep spending a week of pay or more for 1 piece of gear.
Then next year you will have to do it all over again because newer better gear.
I look for best bang for the buck. I don’t need to have $1000 piece of gear. If the gear does its job, I can carry it, and it lasts, that is my criteria. Until someone makes a channel doing that guess I’ll have to try to figure out what gear comes in around my specification.
Sleeping pads are such a scam. I slept on a 4 dollar pool floaty for years that somehow beat the most expensive pads I’ve tried other than insulation. I ended up getting a Thermarest for the cold. And ya, it’s warmer. But that’s it.
Interested in your views of if combining say a 4R inflatable pad on top of a 2R closed cell foam pad gives 6R or if it’s not effectively a direct sum of the values?
I came across the kilos gear AeroCloud Sleeping Pad Elite. Do you have any experience with this sleeping pad? The add was very promising but I doubt it’s as good as they say
Get the ether light xt and be done with it! They’re crazy comfy and not too loud at all
Try Air Mat – Inflatable Pool Float – costs under $5.
The prices are insane. $200 for a extra thin air mattress
Im pretty certain this was a sponsored test as it goes against almost every other comparison video I’ve managed to find from the last couple of year. The BA mat hits midrange at best from almost every other review or test I’ve seen.
Does the warmth problem presents for both the ‘Big Agnes’ pads or just the ‘ZOOM’? Is the ‘RAPIDE’ more reliable? 🙂
You sure put a lot on your hotdog
I have no hesitation in choosing Lighttour R7.5 now. I bought it for 2 months and it keeps warm very well.
I fully understand the complexities of innovation, quality control, distribution, and the associated marketing costs that come with producing advanced products. However, despite being aware of these factors, I’m still quite shocked by how high the prices are for self-inflating mattresses.
I believe sleep pads are a "wear items" like brake pads. Eventually, inevitably you get air leakage in a spot you can’t patch and you have to toss the pad. Burning through a $200+ pad every few seasons is too much for my peasant salary. Closed cell foam pads like the Nemo Switchback never go flat but then you have a bulky item that has to be packed external to your backpack, never fits in your panniers that is less comfy than an inflatable pad.
This video is for rich people planning on Everesting. For mild to good weather the GGOV is super comfortable at under 30 bucks. It also looks like it will last a long time.
I love channels that review camping gear yet never have been camping it seems. Your channel is not about outdoors or hiking. Just consumer crap and clicks. Your video description is for a link to a gear website. Your pinned comment is just links to products.
Another problem with the big Agnes pads is they’re noises
If youre a side sleeper, you need a thick pad, budget ones are gonna be to thin or super heavy
What do you think about the Exped sim confort 5? It’s listed at 100€ with an R-value of 5,9, is it accurate or is it not as warm as they say? Cause if it is I’m surprised they sell it that cheap. Thanks!
